With 12 years under his belt, Mike is an integral part of the Braam’s team. As the plant manager, his daily tasks involve ensuring the shop maintains its production levels, the shop adheres to delivery schedules, and overseeing our many shop employees. In short: Mike is there to help make the shop floor run as smoothly as possible so that our clients receive their cabinetry on time and with the high level of quality that is expected of Braam’s.
Mike’s interest in woodworking started when he was just 14 years old. With a father that had his own garage shop, Mike was able to gain knowledge from a young age on what craftsmanship was all about and came to appreciate the process of turning nothing into something. While he originally thought about getting into the agriculture industry – having grown up in a farming community and taking agriculture business at University of Guelph – Mike ended up falling into woodworking and wound up working at Braam’s.
During his ongoing tenure at Braam’s, Mike has been able to try his hand at just about every part of the cabinetry building process – even having experience with the difficult task of installing cabinets in a home. With every day being a little different than the day before, Mike is always learning new and innovative ways to implement materials and finishes into a project. After over a decade with the company, the unique combinations of materials and finishes that designers plan for our clientele still surprises him in how stunning the final product ends up being.
Thank you, Mike, for your hard work over the past 12 years. We appreciate everything you do at Braam’s and can’t wait to see where you will help take the company in the future.
Now let’s get to the fun questions!

If you could learn anything, what would it be?
Learn to fly like my father who has his pilot’s license
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I like to play hockey, spend time with my kids, and build and fly remote planes
What chore do you hate doing?
What three words define you?
Loyal, dedicated, hardworking
If you could meet any person – living or dead – who would it be?
Jim Carrey or Bryan Baeumler
What advice would you give to someone looking to get into the industry?
Stick with it. I see a lot of people come in here and think they want to get into woodworking and not getting it and giving up. It isn’t something easy you can jump into and learn everything in two days. It takes a lot of time to learn things and the tricks of the trade. If they enjoy doing it, stick with it and don’t give up.
